So it's the end of the month and it's time for a status update.
I'm still working on a vertical slice type of prototype for the next game. Since I've decided on Unity, it's just been a pain in the first few weeks getting used to all the basics all over again. I did this with flash no more than 6 months ago.
I've done an interview with TGN on youtube, you can check out here:
So there were a number of lessons learned from First Mile:
Create a super simple game. No.. simpler. - First Mile was originally supposed to be about 5x larger, and that was supposed to be my simple game I'd produce in 2 months. This time I'm going as simple as I possibly can. I'm going to be working with dots.
Ensure content creation is easy and simple - This is the other axiom I'm working with. First Mile was too short, but it was also very time consuming for one guy to create enough content for it. It still has to be fun too. And thats just about creating a unique experience.
Create the best possibility for revenue - There's a lot of this I'm still trying to figure out. I can tell you that quality and content affects a game greatly. But I'd like some sort of formula with a reasonable path to bare financial subsistence, while creating games I own. What I have learned I am applying however, like going for broader appeal.
So I'm working on a game about Dots, and even with that there's a surprising amount of work. But I hope to be able to show a demo of it here soon.
Very good, this video really motivates me to continue with my projects.
